Environmental Impact Assessments
New developments or processes are required to undertake Basic or Full Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) to identify environmental impacts and provide the necessary mitigation measures prior to project commencement thus ensuring legal compliance.
K-Squared Environmental Consulting is able to assist clients with the identification of developments or processes that will require an EIA through Desktop Analysis and have the experience and expertise to nurture and grow our EIA’s into comprehensive documents that can be submitted to the relevant decision making authority for approval. These documents will also be designed for your organisation’s internal and external needs.
All our EIA’s include a comprehensive Public Participation Process (PPP) and Authority Correspondence at a fixed professional fee (disbursements excluded). K-Squared Environmental Consulting also provides specialist biodiversity studies as required by the project. Section 34G Rectification Processes are also available through K-Squared Environmental Consulting’s expert services.
Public Participation
The Public Participation Process can be undertaken as a separate item if so required. K-Squared Environmental Consulting undertakes comprehensive Public Participation Processes in a friendly and open manner that addresses the needs of the interested and affected parties and the project development while fulfilling the legal requirements for environmental management.
Water Use/Air Emissions/Waste License Applications
Water Use License Applications (WULA) are undertaken by K-Squared Environmental Consulting in compliance with the National Water Act (Act 36 of 1998) (as amended) taking into account the relevant Government Notice’s that regulates the use of water aimed at the protection of water resources.
Air Emissions License Applications (AELA) are undertaken by K-Squared Environmental Consulting in compliance with the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (Act 39 of 2004).
Waste Use License Applications are undertaken by K-Squared Environmental Consulting in compliance with the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act 59 of 2008). Waste to Energy Projects are a valuable service to reduce, reuse and recycle waste and K-Squared Environmental Consulting strives to implement ways to reduce, reuse or recycle waste as part of the application process.
K-Squared Environmental Consulting provides the EIA’s required for Waste Use Licenses, Air Emissions Licenses (AEL) and Water Use Licenses (WULA) as well as the associated management plans.
Environmental Management Tools
K-Squared Environmental Consulting provides a full range of Environmental Management Tools that can be utilised as stand alone documents or to compliment the Environmental Impact Assessment processes and license requirements. These include Environmental and Ecological Management Plans and Rehabilitation Plans that are tailored to specific project needs.
Environmental Auditing and Site Control associated with a project after the EIA approval process is a necessary part of compliance to the EIA Authorisation. K-Squared Environmental Consulting will undertake these services on site and provide all the documentation necessary for dispersal to the the relevant authorities and interested and affected parties.
K-Squared Environmental Consulting also offers the compilation and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) (ISO 14001) and Health and Safety Managment Systems (OHSAS 18001) to assist companies in obtaining their certification. Services include compilation of policies, risk identification and assessments associated with a legal register, compilation of company procedures and internal audits.
